Other South Coast watersports include surfing, water-skiing, boating on the Hibberdene lagoon, excellent ski boat fishing, and good rock and surf fishing, as the Hibberdene beaches are reputed to be the South Coast spot for shad fishing. Known as the 'greatest shoal on Earth', when the sardine run comes to town, so do the tourists, sharks, dolphins, seals and flocks of seabirds all of which pillage the millions of silver fish. The Emithini and Mzamba Village sells authentic Zulu art and handmade craftwork such as jewellery and leather work, and don't miss the traditional Zulu dancing. Unforgettable family fun can be had at Hibberdene Super Tube on the beachfront, or for something less hectic, play Putt-putt at the famous Hibberdene beachfront Jolly Roger Restaurant. Finding accommodation on the South Coast was easy because there is loads of it. Although accommodation on the South Coast is sometimes a little suspect, Catalina Bay is a complex of 12 units with a lovely swimming pool and like much of the other beachfront accommodation in Hibberdene, the complex is pretty safe and only a short stroll to the main Hibberdene blue flag swimming beach. The kitchen was very well equipped and we had a great balcony overlooking the ocean. We found that the South Coast beaches are generally much bigger than those on the North Coast and were far better for rock and surf fishing.
